Use Penny with your AI assistant

Connect Penny to any assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) so it can answer questions with your family's context.

Your server URL

Paste this address into your assistant when it asks for a server URL.

https://mcp.tldrparents.com/mcp

How to connect

  1. In your assistant's settings, find where it adds connectors, integrations, or custom MCP servers.
  2. Add a remote MCP server using the URL above.
  3. Sign in with the Google account you use for Penny when prompted.
  4. Enable the Penny connector in a conversation.

You need an assistant that supports remote MCP servers (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth sign-in. Examples include Claude, ChatGPT, and developer tools like Cursor and VS Code. Menu names vary by app.

For developers

Sign-in and privacy

  • Sign-in uses OAuth with the same Google account as Penny. Your assistant never sees your password.
  • Access is limited to your family and your role (Owner or Viewer).
  • Data the assistant retrieves is handled under that assistant provider's terms, not Penny's.
  • Revoke access anytime by disconnecting the connector in your assistant.

Try asking

  • “Which account am I signed in to Penny with?”
  • “Who's in my Penny family?”

Troubleshooting

  • Tools don't show up: Make sure the connector is enabled for the conversation.
  • Wrong account: Disconnect, reconnect, and pick the right Google account.
  • Sign-in errors: Remove the connector and add it again.
